Prior to joining ISB for my PhD, I did MPhil thesis research with Prof. Randy Poon at HKUST, where I studied how aberrant mitochondrial ROS drives genome instability and the redox control of mitosis. These fundamental cell biology questions intrigued me to think about think about the intersection between redox biology, genome stability and cell cycle control. After joining Dr. Fouquerel's lab here at Pitt, I continue to investigate these lines of research by probing into how centromere specifically reacts to oxidative DNA lesions. I am also intrigued at how oxidative DNA lesions affect replication fork dynamics and mitotic fidelity.
